The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures in the utilization of radionuclides for the diagnosis and treatment of disease in humans. This position assumes a variety of responsibilities that will require independent judgment, ingenuity, initiative, and the ability to adapt to adverse situations. The technologist is authorized and commits to delivering quality care to patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric, ensuring patient safety and adhering to safety standards that keep radiation exposure as low as reasonably achievable. The position contributes significantly to the mission and goals of the department by providing professional quality Nuclear Medicine imaging services in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, acting as a clinical resource to unit personnel, and assuring current standards of practice for the unit.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) Required.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT-N) Required or Nuclear Medicine Technology Cert Board (NMTCB) Required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform Radiographic Imaging procedures.
  • Handle, prepare, calculate dosage, and administer radionuclides and interventional medications under the direction of an authorized user.
  • Maintain records in accordance with departmental and state requirements.
  • Assist the radiation safety officer as needed.
  • Transport patients to the imaging room.
  • Position patients appropriately to obtain quality diagnostic images for interpretation via PACS system.
  • Assist Radiologists or other clinical staff during procedures.
  • Perform clerical duties and assist in the radiology department as needed.
  • Perform basic patient care within scope of practice and to departmental standards.
  • Market Nuclear Medicine/PET-CT to physician referrers.
  • Adhere to the Corporate Compliance plan and the rules and regulations of all local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships.
