About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist is responsible for performing all necessary duties and functions related to planning, organizing, and performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine and PET procedures. The Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist is responsible for producing high quality diagnostic images with special attention to radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and technique when working with patients and radioactive materials. The Nuclear Medicine/PET technologist provides coverage for both departments (Nuclear Medicine/PET) as needed.

Requirements

  • Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine (N) Upon Hire(Required) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technician (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board Inc (NMTCB) CNMT Upon Hire(Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Call Rotation
  • Weekend Shifts
  • Irregular Shifts

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of nuclear medicine studies to include all types of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Provides clinical documentation per scope of practice.
  • Follows ALARA principles.
  • Performs responsibilities with a commitment to safety and quality and prevents or reduces harms through knowledge and application of policies, procedures, protocols, using safety behaviors.
  • Responsible for the preparation of equipment, instrumentation, and departmental supplies required to support quality patient care.
  • Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards. Reports variances.
  • Coordinates patient care and performs effective assessment, actions, and documentation.
  • Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
  • Maintains records of tests conducted, tests results, and disposition of isotopes and body products containing isotopes.
  • Orders, prepares, calibrates, stores, and administers radiopharmaceuticals for routine, on-call, and therapeutic procedures.
  • Performs quality control on various instruments.
  • Operates various radiation detection devices, and other instruments that measure the quantity and distribution of radionuclides within a patient or patient specimen.
