The Department of Radiology offers a unique opportunity and is seeking a physician-scientist with interest in molecular imaging and therapy to join our growing Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section. The University of Wisconsin Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Section is composed of experts in multiple areas including general nuclear medicine and PET imaging, theranostics, nuclear cardiology, PET/ MR, prostate cancer imaging and therapy, and the imaging and treatment of patients with thyroid cancer. Therapies in patients with various forms of cancer are routinely performed with unsealed sources, such as radioactive iodine in patients with thyroid disease, 177-Lu DOTATATE for patients with neuroendocrine tumors and 177-Lu vipivotide tetraxetan for patients with metastatic prostate cancer. The section is part of a major expansion of the UW theranostics program using both clinically approved and investigational agents. This is a growing area with state-of-the-art imaging equipment including PET/CT, PET/MR and SPECT/ CT. The section offers both a nuclear medicine residency and a PET/molecular imaging fellowship program. The UW Department of Radiology consists of more than 165 faculty across 13 sections, reading over 1,000,000 diagnostic scans per year. We train more than 50 residents and fellows per year and have an extensive presence throughout the medical student curriculum. The Department of Radiology benefits from strong collaborations with the Department of Medical Physics and Department of Radiation Medicine, together sharing over 70,000 square ft. of facilities within the Wisconsin Institutes of Medical Research and managing a large and comprehensive fleet of state-of-the-art equipment in PET/CT, PET/MR, CT, MR, angiography, ultrasound and PACS. Nuclear medicine faculty rotate at both the University Hospital and the Eastpark Medical Center (EMC). EMC boasts five new theranostics treatment rooms, a new PET/CT scanner, and a new SPECT/CT scanner. The Department is also home to several services dedicated to supporting our researchers, including the cutting-edge Radiopharmaceutical Production Facility (RPF) and the Medical Imaging Research Services core, which provides extensive regulatory, grant administration, technical consultation, and image analysis services. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Applicants who are interested in pursuing an academic career in the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging section will be considered for the titles listed: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor on the Tenure Track. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
