About The Position

Performs clinical diagnostic nuclear medicine testing, including general studies, cardiac studies, and the computer interactions associated with these studies. Takes call on a rotational basis. Requirements

  • PLEASE NOTE: This Position Requires Completion of ARRT (N) or NMTCB Certification within 6 months after graduation.
  • CANDIDATES WHO ARE SELECTED FOR THE POSITION MUST SIGN AN AGREEMENT TO OBTAIN THIS CREDENTIAL

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to scanning room; prepares and maintains rooms.
  • Explains procedure to patients.
  • Administers isotope dosage accurately following established departmental procedures; accurately records dosage administered.
  • Observes patient during procedure and reports any unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel.
  • Schedules Nuclear Medicine exams in order to coordinate with other patient exams.
  • Performs Nuclear Medicine studies; determines appropriate isotope required; obtains patient history and reviews patient condition.
  • Maintains gamma cameras and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs quality control on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Uses Radiology Information System, hospital information systems as required.
  • Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, workshops, current literature, inservices and/or seminars.
  • Attends meetings as required or requested.
  • Takes call for Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Works with, oversees and evaluates student Nuclear Medicine technologists
