Performs diversified Nuclear Medicine duties involving the use of radioisotopes for therapeutic and imaging protocols. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.   • CNMT Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Demonstrates competent and proficient use of the Hospital Picture Achieving System (PACS) as observed by the supervisor and Radiologist.
  • Performs test and maintenance procedures on equipment and apparatus.
  • Regularly checks equipment for operational readiness, safety and accuracy as indicated by random review of maintenance log.
  • Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for administration and administers to patient.
  • Readies radiopharmaceuticals in accordance to prescribed dose as observed by Radiologist.
  • Maintains records in accordance with NRC license/Regulatory guidelines for radiation safety.
  • Completes required records as outlined by the NRC license as indicated by random quarterly review of records.
  • Monitors Hot Lab and department radiation levels.
  • Performs wipe test in all areas of department according to protocol as observed by supervisor.
  • Orders supplies and radiopharmaceuticals as required.
  • Maintains an efficient level of inventory as observed by supervisor.
  • Instructs Hospital personnel on proper handling of isotopes and procedures in the event of contamination.
  • Willingly and conscientiously provides instruction to other personnel as assigned and observed by supervisor.
  • Assists with the training of new staff, residents and students.
  • Participates in the orientation of new staff, students and radiology residents as required and observed by supervisor.
  • Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescence to old age and applies developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff.
  • Accurately enters all applicable information and charges for procedures.
  • Enters all patients ordered information into the RIS according to department protocol as observed by the manaager.
  • Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan.
  • Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor.
