About The Position

A Nuclear Med Tech performs various technical procedures using radionuclides and imaging devices for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in all patient populations. Requires independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the performance of these duties.

Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of Nuclear Medicine program.
• Current licensure by either ARRT or NMTCB.
• CPR certified.
• Maintain Continuing Education standards set by ARRT or NMTCB.
• One to two years experience in an active Nuclear Medicine department preferred.
• Knowledge of all diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures.
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals used in nuclear medicine procedures.
• Knowledge of gamma camera and radiation measurement device operation.
• Knowledge of Tennessee Division of Radiologic Health's rules and regulations regarding safe use and disposal of radioactive materials.

• Further training in PET/CT.

Responsibilities

• Perform various technical procedures using radionuclides and imaging devices.
• Utilize independent judgement and ingenuity in the performance of duties.
• Organize patient workflow.
• Prepare and administer radioactive chemical compounds.
• Perform patient imaging procedures using sophisticated radiation detecting instrumentation.
• Analyze biologic specimens in the laboratory.
• Monitor the patient's physical condition during procedures.
• Provide images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
• Teach Nuclear Medicine students as part of clinical training.
