About The Position

Radiation oncologists at CCCN use the most advanced treatment planning systems and state-of-the-art radiation technology to deliver internal and external radiation that helps prevent cancerous cells from growing or dividing and potentially eliminates them. Career Opportunity: Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada has an exciting opportunity for a Nuclear Med Tech in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this role, you will work with some of the best physicians in their fields while providing care to patients in a successful health care organization.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school required.
  • Minimum three years experience as a Nuclear Medical Technologist.
  • Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Current IV and CPR certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients in accordance with physicians orders.
  • Operates scintillation detection equipment to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of the isotope concentrations in specific body areas of the patient.
  • Conducts organ or body scans on patients with radioactive. isotopes in order to provide diagnostic aid to physicians.
  • Administers isotope dosage and records dosage administered following established departmental procedures.
  • Observes patient during procedures and reports unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs laboratory tests on body specimens.
  • Computes results of laboratory tests.
  • Keeps records of tests conducted, test results, and disposition of isotopes and body products containing isotopes.
  • Offers expertise to physicians regarding appropriateness of additional/modified studies, etc.
  • Escorts patients to treatment room.
  • Assists with dressings as necessary.
  • Completes all paperwork necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Logs nuclear medicine procedures completed.
  • Processes routine paperwork.
  • Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Ensures the safety and physical comfort of the patient while in technologists care.
  • Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor machine performance.
  • Reports all malfunctions and/or need for adjustments to the proper company or facility.
  • Arranges preventive maintenance as recommended by vendor.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
  • Maintains radiation detection badges and files all radiation reports.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of clinical and clerical supplies for Radiology Department to ensure efficient operations.
  • Orders, logs, and returns outside films requested from other agencies; completes appropriate documentation.
  • Arranges for the release of films to patients and outside agencies.
  • -Maintains paperwork for tracking loaned films.
  • Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff.
