About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist position at Parkwest involves performing routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures as defined by physicians. The role requires technical expertise in operating imaging equipment and adhering to procedure protocols. The technologist will evaluate equipment performance, maintain quality control records, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. The position also includes collaboration with licensed practitioners, maintaining radiation safety standards, and handling radiopharmaceuticals safely. The technologist will educate and assist new staff and student technologists, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have completed an educational program accredited by NMTCB or ARRT.
  • Documentation of training/competency checklist.
  • Authorization to inject radiopharmaceuticals signed by an authorized user.
  • Licensure Requirement: ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification within 1 year.
  • State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic imaging procedures through technical expertise of equipment and procedure protocol.
  • Evaluate equipment performance and initiate corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain records for the quality control program of gamma camera imaging systems.
  • Collaborate patient’s clinical history with procedure and ensure documentation is available for licensed practitioners.
  • Complete and verify accurate informed consents.
  • Perform procedures under the order of a licensed medical practitioner.
  • Maintain established radiation safety standards and minimize radiation exposure.
  • Handle, secure, and store radiopharmaceuticals safely.
  • Document and keep records as regulated by State, Joint Commission, ACR, and NRC.
  • Obtain biological samples for testing to optimize patient care.
  • Educate, train, and assist new staff members and student technologists.
  • Assist licensed independent practitioners with interventional procedures.
  • Stay current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and perform BLS as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
