About The Position

Under the direction of the Director or Manager of Radiology Services, the Medical Director, and the nuclear medicine team, performs Nuclear Medicine exams, Stress Tests, and Spectral CT exams at a technical level requiring limited or no supervision. Performs a variety of procedures that requires independent judgement for the preparation, calibration, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, as well as performing quality control, diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a program accredited by JCERT or the JRCNMT, or Registered with the NMTCB or with ARRT, or equivalent training, required.
  • Current Nuclear Medicine CNMT and/or ARRT(N) Certification, required.
  • Current WA State Radiologic Technologist Certification, required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers, required.
  • 1 year of working in Nuclear Medicine, preferred.
  • Radiology Technologist RT(R) Certification, preferred.
  • CT Technologist RT(CT) Certification Preferred or obtain Certification within 1 year of employment, required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proficiency in all nuclear medicine procedures, using initiative in special positioning needs of individual patients.
  • Practices good radiation safety procedure pertaining to the preparation, handling, administration, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Performs Spectral CT exams that include IV and Oral contrast utilizing all screening and safety precautions.
  • Facilitates Cardiology PA's with stress test to include: setting up for the exam, hooking a patient up to a 12-lead EKG.
  • Performs/maintains all department records pertaining to quality control, radiation monitoring and surveys, and radioactive materials handling.
  • Orders radiopharmaceuticals according to both prescribed schedules, and on a stat basis.
  • Operates all imaging and auxiliary equipment according to written procedures/protocols, demonstrating proficiency on all equipment.
  • Reports/records all equipment problems promptly, and initiates service calls as necessary.
  • Responsible for documenting pertinent clinical history and symptoms.
  • Participates in the utilization and support of the PACS systems.
  • Utilizes computer systems to obtain lab values, enter exam charges, schedule patients, enter orders, access reports, etc.
  • Assists in the writing and revision of procedures/protocols.
  • Assists in evaluating and standardizing new procedures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of medications used in nuclear medicine.
  • Responsible for the physiological monitoring and care of patients during nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Maintains proficiency in starting IV lines and follows proper injection procedure.
  • Takes on-call responsibility as scheduled and arrives within 30 minutes of notification.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with physicians and their staff.
  • Develops and maintains respectful relationships with all customers.
  • Transports patients as necessary, utilizing appropriate safety resources.
  • Provides documentation of personal credentials per department policy and maintains education record.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
