About The Position

The position is for a part-time Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Advocate Health, specifically within the Imaging Services department. The role involves performing a variety of nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including general, cardiac, therapy, and PET/CT, as required by the assigned facility. The technologist will review patient medical records, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, perform venipuncture, and maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical doses. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, including ALARA measures, and involves post-processing images and documenting billing codes. The technologist will also serve as a resource for students and staff, assist with accreditation efforts, and perform patient positioning and transporting duties. The role demands knowledge of patient care principles across different age groups and the ability to assess and interpret patient data effectively.

Requirements

  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (CNMT) or Nuclear Medicine Tech (N) registration.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Neurophysiology, Biology, or related field.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and radiation safety.
  • Competent in IV and venipuncture.
  • Basic to proficient ECG interpretation and pharmacological knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to advanced nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Review patients' medical records to obtain necessary clinical information.
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and procedural adjunctive medication.
  • Perform venipuncture and placement of peripheral IV catheters.
  • Follow correct procedures for handling radioactive materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of pharmaceutical doses.
  • Post-process images and accurately label them.
  • Maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Identify equipment performance issues and perform quality assurance tests.
  • Serve as a technical resource and role model for students and staff.
  • Assist with accreditation efforts.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties.
