Accomplish mechanical maintenance activities on both non-safety and safety-related components by performance of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and planned and unplanned corrective maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation of a Nuclear Station. Be available for work when required to ensure an adequate pool of manpower to correct plant problems. This position may be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. Assignment to one of these positions and a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 60 minutes of notification of an emergency. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. An employee in this classification will normally perform as a Journeyman Mechanic and will use his/her training and knowledge of a broad variety of pumps, motors, valves and other associated skills as called upon. This position will demonstrate proficiency in and qualify to perform mechanical maintenance required for maintenance and repair at a nuclear station at a Journeyman level, including: maintaining and repairing power plant equipment; working on both energized and de-energized equipment; following procedures/prints to install and maintain equipment; assembling and disassembling components using proper rigging and lifting techniques; troubleshooting equipment; and properly using mechanical test equipment. This position is required to maintain proficiency and periodic re-certification is mandatory. Mechanical responsibilities are to test, repair, maintain, overhaul, and modify all mechanical plant equipment at the highest level of skill in accordance with nuclear procedures.
