About The Position

The Electrical/I&C System Engineering Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the appropriate level of engineering support for the safe and reliable operation of electrical power distribution systems and traditional instrument and control systems at Cook Nuclear Plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering to include Mechanical, Civil, Electrical (preferred), Chemical or other ABET accredited degree, with 8 years of professional experience in engineering, operations or maintenance. Or High school diploma with 10 years of professional experience in engineering, operations or maintenance in the nuclear industry.
  • Must be knowledgeable of industry standards and NRC regulations governing operation of a nuclear power generating facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership in an engineering environment.
  • Must be able to plan work, allocate resources, direct activities and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously to effectively optimize resource utilization.

  • Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of approximately five electrical and controls engineers responsible for the reliability and availability of electrical and control systems at Cook Nuclear Plant.
  • Communicate with and address internal and external stakeholder needs including Operations, Maintenance, Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Develop personnel reporting to incumbent through observation, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Ensure quality, accuracy, rigor, and timeliness of engineering analyses and evaluations performed by the System Engineering Electrical/I&C group.
  • Respond to emergent plant needs to support safe and reliable operation. This includes on call weeks and Emergency Response Organization support.
  • Monitor and address group, department, and plant level performance, identify declining trends or gaps in performance, and implement actions to achieve and sustain excellence performance.
  • Actively participate in line management ownership of the station training programs to ensure a quality program is maintained and personnel are trained to the highest standards of excellence.
