About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Nuclear Cardiology Technologist to perform Nuclear Cardiology studies, which require theoretical insight and experience. The role involves exercising complex skill, judgment, and knowledge of the principles and methods of Nuclear Cardiology, including SPECT, SPECT/CT, and PET/CT. The technologist will provide patient care, technical skills, and documentation while practicing radiation safety measures to reduce exposure and prevent contamination. Responsibilities include explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, acquiring and processing images, performing quality control on cameras and dose calibrators, and maintaining the radiopharmacy. The technologist will also be responsible for recording and documenting patient studies, archiving studies, and ordering radiopharmaceuticals. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program.
  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • New York State License in nuclear medicine or a 6-month temporary license when accredited program is passed.
  • Certificate in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an approved Nuclear Medicine program preferred.

  • Archive patient studies and document quality control results according to laboratory guidelines.
  • Order radiopharmaceuticals and assist in the goals of nuclear cardiology as defined by the Director.
