About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist, performs Nuclear Medicine & PET/CT procedures to produce images to assist physicians with a medical diagnosis, while complying with safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of previous Nuclear Medicine/PET CT experience.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N) or the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • Proficient in all rules, regulations, and requirements within both the Nevada Radioactive Materials License and the American College of Radiology (ACR)
  • Ability to do essential job duties.
  • Ability to read, understand, speak, and follow English instructions.
  • Display superior interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients and peers.
  • Possess superior knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedures and techniques.
  • Must have complete competency in standard precautions, aseptic technique, venipuncture, and contrast administration.
  • Ability to manage stress appropriately.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work alone and/or with others effectively.
  • Ability to work in close proximity to others in a medical office environment.
  • Possess common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and maintains all aspects of the Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT Departments, including dose ordering, state compliance, inspections, training, staff management, etc.
  • Ensures adequate training of all NUC/PET employees.
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Performs patient imaging procedures using radiation-detecting instrumentation following ACR and state regulations.
  • Initiates, maintains, and discontinues IV access.
  • Oversees the administering of contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Responsible for compliance in assigned oversight areas within imaging.
  • Modality to be in compliance with state/federal radiation control/safety ACR guidelines with training, protocols/procedures, and competency.
  • Prepares images, data analysis, and patient information to the Radiologist for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Performs and monitors daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual QC as required.
  • Calculates, measures, and records radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of in compliance with the Nevada Radioactive Materials License RAM and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
  • Assists the Radiation Safety Officer with monitoring and posting monthly radiation exposure rates for the staff.
  • Educates and ensures all Imaging department staff complies with As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles.
  • Maintains stock supplies and assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase, performs general office duties such as recording procedure codes for billing purposes, typing forms, and scheduling patients.
  • Assess and document the patient’s condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
  • Ensure positive experience for the patient and uphold company objective for patient satisfaction.
  • Check referrals for physician notes and/or special instructions.
  • Instruct and assist patients in preps and physical positions for appropriate tests.
  • Administer contrast materials as necessary.
  • Recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
  • Adhere to procedure protocols as established by the Medical Director and the RSO.
  • Enforce Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT radiation safety procedures to provide a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Maintain facility equipment/rooms in proper working condition.
  • Report malfunctions and necessary repairs to the Radiology Tech Manager.
  • Work closely with Director of Radiology and CEO to assist with various duties as needed at the outpatient facility.
  • Train and support peers and new team members, sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and ensuring consistency in processes across the department.
  • Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
