This position involves competently performing routine and specialized nuclear medicine procedures, including duties in at least one specialty area, to produce quality images for physicians and other healthcare providers. The technologist contributes to the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of injury or disease. The role requires working independently, exercising sound judgment, and utilizing developed clinical skills to execute safe and precise procedures, delivering accurate results in a timely manner. A key aspect is gaining confidence and cooperation from patients, their families/support groups, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication. The technologist must adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. Additionally, the role may include performing specific procedures and/or orienting other staff to the department. Employees may handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires managing, storing, preparing, receiving, unpacking, transporting, disposing of, or administering drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.
