About The Position

The School of Health Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Instructor/Assistant Lecturer position in the Dental Hygiene program, starting January 1, 2025. This role involves providing classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, as well as engaging in program development and maintaining professional skills.

Requirements

• Earned Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or a related field by the start date of the position.
• Licensed in Illinois as a Dental Hygienist, or be eligible for license by January 1, 2025.
• Minimum of 1.5 years' work experience as a dental hygienist with certification in local anesthesia.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Education or a related field.
• Dentrix experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct classroom/laboratory/clinical instruction and office hours as assigned.
• Teach various didactic courses and provide clinical and laboratory instruction and evaluation in the Dental Hygiene program.
• Participate in program responsibilities associated with accreditation standards such as course and program development, evaluation, assessment, and quality assurance.
• Engage in professional practice, seminars, or workshops to maintain up-to-date skills in the Dental Hygiene program.
• Engage in other duties as determined by the Director of the School of Health Sciences.
