The Nurses Practicing in an Immersive Readiness Environment (NSPIRE) program at Hackensack Meridian Health is designed specifically for newly graduated nurses from accredited institutions. This pre-NCLEX position allows participants to engage in a twelve-week practice immersion curriculum, which serves as a preparatory phase before entering a twelve-month nurse residency program. The Nurse Apprentice will undergo clinical immersions, shadow experienced nurses, and gain exposure to the clinical environments where they will eventually work as Registered Nurses after successfully passing the NCLEX exam. During this structured program, the Nurse Apprentice will be immersed in a supportive environment that emphasizes observation and learning the essential skills required to be an effective member of the healthcare team. Although direct patient interaction will be limited, the Nurse Apprentice will have opportunities to practice selected nursing skills and build confidence in an acute care setting, preparing them for their transition into professional nursing practice. The program includes various immersion opportunities that focus on competency-based skills, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for their future roles. The role also involves attending skill labs and simulation labs, gaining exposure to hospital-wide committee meetings, and reflecting on these experiences. The Nurse Apprentice will learn how to create a safe patient environment by understanding the principles of a high reliability organization and will participate in educational experiences that cover different aspects of nursing at Hackensack Meridian Health. This position is integral to fostering the next generation of nursing professionals and enhancing the quality of patient care within the organization.
