As the Liberty Military Housing NSO Controller, you will lead all day-to-day operations of the NSO/Corporate and ESOP accounting and finance department, including budget review and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, relationship management with banks and other vendors, and audit preparation. You will collaborate with various departments and leaders, including the CAO, CFO, CEO, President, Vice Presidents, directors, and other department heads. You will also identify new opportunities to improve efficiencies, eliminate backlogs, and respond proactively to other departments’ needs. You will analyze the existing processes and systems and work closely with the CAO and administrators to streamline current systems, leverage new information technology, and establish standard operating procedures. You need to be proactive, hands-on finance/accounting manager with experience in creative problem-solving and the ability to strengthen infrastructure for a mission-driven organization.

Requirements

  • Ability to work more hours at peak times such audit season and month, quarter and year end
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, Master’s Degree and / or CPA preferred
  • Very strong proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, look ups) required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, subordinates, internal and external customers
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • An accessible, visible, and flexible management style that inspires trust and confidence in staff to work hard and well together
  • Must be able to motivate self and team for work under pressure to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude, providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Recognized success in developing and monitoring systems to manage internal operations that involves a high level of collaboration, particularly with directors and other senior leadership
  • Minimum five years of accounting experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the following tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner by the National Accounting and Accounts Payable team, including review of all completed work:
  • Daily review of General Ledger accounts
  • Daily reconciliation of disbursement accounts including resolution of any reconciling items
  • Daily review of intercompany balances, preparation of transfers to clear balances
  • Daily booking of all cash entries and review of outstanding AP
  • Prepare entries for monthly allocation of national and regional costs
  • Prepare draw requests and maintain associated tracking and reconciliation schedules
  • Prepare financial review packages and other financial schedules as may be required from time to time by the Owner
  • Prepare required quarterly reporting for submission to NSO Controller
  • Coordinate and assist with annual financial statement audit
  • Coordinate annual budget file preparation and review
  • Daily review of accounts payables, receivable, and cash management.
  • Identify and communicate process improvements for efficiency and better service to on-site teams
  • Other tasks as may be identified in the future or assigned as ad-hoc projects
  • Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Recording for the receipt of revenue and monitoring expenses according to both the budgets and actuals.
  • Collaborate with leadership team members in drafting, reviewing, and verifying the accuracy of annual NSO, Corporate, & ESOP budgets by the business unit.
  • Implement and Maintain accounting policies, practices, and procedures across the company.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting for NSO, Corporate, & ESOP financials.
  • Oversight of all accounts payable and cash management and functions
  • Coordinate all audit activities
  • Provide the necessary training and development for staff.
  • Manage workload issues effectively to create a workplace that increases staff retention and strengthens communication within and outside the department.
  • Establish and track quarterly and annual Objectives and Key Results for National Accounting and Accounts Payable team and continuous provision of Conversation, Feedback and Recognition to National Accounting and National Accounts Payable team
