Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an NSHE Specialist 1 in the Provost’s Office. The provides fiscal, personnel, and administrative support for academic and operational programs within the Provost’s Office. This role ensures compliance with university policies, supports program operations, and assists with academic initiatives and special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of relevant experience; OR Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada state service which included applying complex laws and regulations, composing written materials, and maintaining records, OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate fiscal and operational activities, including monitoring accounts, reviewing transactions, and supporting budget tracking and reporting.
  • Apply established procedures and guide faculty and staff on processes, timelines, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain records to support compliance, reporting, and fiscal year-end activities.
  • Support faculty recruitment, onboarding, funding updates, and personnel transactions in accordance with university procedures.
  • Maintain position and funding data; prepare routine reports on faculty activity and staffing.
  • Provide customer service and assist departments with hiring, payroll, and leave processes.
  • Assist with coordination and implementation of special projects, academic initiatives, and events; track timelines and prepare materials.
  • Respond to inquiries and ensure processes align with university policies and administrative requirements.
  • Provide general operational support and perform other related duties as assigned.
