About The Position

The NSEOD Instructor (Diving Qualified) shall serve as a subject matter expert in one or more subject areas within the NSEOD catalog of courses delivered to USN and International EOD personnel. The instructor shall perform all phases of U/W curriculum managment and delivery, student management, administrative duties, and maintenance of training-related equipment and facilities. In addition, the instructor shall be qualified to conduct and support U.S. Navy diving instruction and operations in accordance with established Navy diving standards. Duties include instruction in training tanks, pier-side, and open water environments, while maintaining required diving proficiency and safety qualifications. The instructor shall maintain personal qualifications required to teach high-risk courses of instruction, safeguard classified material and information, and comply with all applicable safety, diving, and training regulations.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of the NAVSCOLEOD Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Basic Course and hold the appropriate EOD NEC/MOS from the U.S. Navy.
Must be qualified as a USN Senior EOD Technician; Master EOD Technician qualification is preferred.
Must be a graduate of Navy Instructor Training Course or equivalent Service/civilian instructor certification.
Must have performed diving or instructional duties within the previous five (5) years.
Must be currently dive qualified and capable of instructing in Navy diving environments.
Must maintain current CPR certification, dive physical, and medical screening requirements.
Must meet all physical and psychological requirements for high-risk training environments.
Must pass initial and periodic/random drug screening.
Must be able to tolerate moderate physical exertion, including standing, walking over uneven terrain, bending, crouching, and working in extreme environmental conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must meet the requirements of OPNAVINST 8023.24 and NETCINST 1500.13.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Contractor personnel shall comply with all applicable Federal, DoD, and Navy regulations, policies, and procedures.
Contractor personnel shall comply with all applicable health protection protocols.
Contractor personnel shall maintain all required NEC/MOS and diving qualifications throughout the period of performance.

Responsibilities

Prepare a personalized lesson plan for each subject matter area assigned using lesson plans furnished by NSEOD and/or Navy diving training commands. Prepare quizzes, examinations, and remedial homework assignments as required.
Conduct classroom, laboratory, and practical instruction, to include diving instruction in training tanks, pier-side, and open water environments.
Conduct student administration including test grading, performance evaluations, counseling of failing students, recommendations to Academic Review Boards, and management of student critiques.
Serve as a subject matter expert for courses assigned, including EOD and diving-related instruction.
Maintain proficiency in instructional techniques as outlined in Navy Instructor Training Course (or equivalent), and in the use of training aids, devices, and instructional materials required to support both EOD and diving instruction.
Diversify instructional delivery methods to maintain student motivation and engagement. Attend in-service training (estimated 16 hours annually) to remain current on Government policies and procedures.
Perform classroom and laboratory administration, including preparation, staging, and accountability of materials, equipment, and training aids.
Maintain currency in safety standards and participate in required safety stand-down training related to high-risk EOD and diving operations.
Maintain security of student records, classified materials, and controlled information in accordance with Privacy Act and DoD requirements.
Conduct student remediation using alternative instructional methods, supervised study, and additional assignments as required.
Conduct physical inventory, operational checks, and routine maintenance of training aids, diving equipment, and classroom/laboratory equipment.
Comply with U.S. Navy diving SOPs, tactics, techniques, and procedures in accordance with the Navy Diving curriculum.
Conduct and support diving operations as directed, in training tanks, confined water, pier-side, and open water environments.
Maintain diving proficiency by completing a minimum of eight (8) dives annually.
Comply with Diving Operational Readiness Inspection (DORI) and Diving Safety Assessment requirements in accordance with OPNAVINST 3150.27.
Follow all applicable job sheets and diving supervisor direction during diving operations.
Utilize only Government-furnished U.S. Navy diving life support equipment.
Maintain qualification and proficiency in diving systems being instructed, to include SCUBA and MK16 as applicable.
Qualify as a Navy 3-M (Maintenance Person 301) within 30 days of reporting.
