About The Position

The Oregon Department of Agriculture is seeking to hire a well talented Natural Resource Specialist to help support The Native Plant Conservation Program. As a Natural Resource Specialist 1 (Botanical Field Lead) you will focus on botanical, ecological and experimental data collection at field-based project sites across Oregon. Work will include surveying, monitoring and collection of rare and native plants. You will record field observations, methods and project progress, and will enter field collected data, perform basic analysis and generate reports. The position requires regular coordination with program staff and occasional assistance with greenhouse projects and operations. The Botanical Field Lead may act as a project leader to oversee the work of, lead, or coordinate field technicians, seasonal, part-time, or temporary employees on specific projects. Our Natural Resource Specialist 1 (Botanical Field) is a seasonal full-time position, the location you be working out of will be Corvallis, Oregon area.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Biology, Plant Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or related area.
  • Three years' experience in natural resources.
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using dichotomous keys.
  • Knowledge of flora of the Pacific Northwest.
  • Foundational knowledge of plant physiology.
  • Experience in the survey, monitoring, and identification of plants.
