The Project/Process Engineer at Coleraine Labs provides professional technical support for university facilities, equipment, and research projects, focusing on efficiency in project design and execution. This role involves overseeing engineering firms and contractors, ensuring operational effectiveness, and solving problems related to project scope, schedule, and budget. The engineer will collaborate with project managers and other participants, formulate engineering management goals, and assist in lab maintenance and equipment management.

  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the engineering aspects of assigned projects.
  • Develop data protocols, operational plans, and work activities.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with project managers and other participants to provide technical support.
  • Formulate and implement short- and long-range goals for engineering management systems.
  • Evaluate, suggest alternate methods, and modify or develop new procedures and techniques.
  • Assist with outfitting and maintaining labs, including installation and testing of new equipment.
  • Work closely with Research PIs to establish and implement project process engineering requirements.
  • Contribute to the design of pilot plant systems to meet research project objectives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting existing pilot plant operations.
  • BA/BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical engineering with at least 6 years of experience as a project/process engineer, or a Master's degree with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with codes, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and detail-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated.
  • Evidence of excellent written communication skills.
  • Minnesota Professional Engineer License.
  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Advanced use of project management tools such as MS Project or equivalent.
  • Evidence of excellent oral communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating in a diverse and multidisciplinary team environment.
