Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? Pratt & Whitney (P&W) is seeking a detail oriented, goal focused Technical Manager to lead the Vanes New Product Introduction (NPI) team. This role is a part of the “Hot Section Module Center” (HSMC) organization working on Turbine Airfoil Vanes. In this role the selected manager will be responsible for overseeing all new Turbine Vane designs through the life cycle of new programs, ensuring the progression of Process Development, Development Hardware Fabrication, Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL), Production Rate Readiness (PRR), and First Article Inspection. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to work in a fast pace and dynamic manufacturing environment on multiple different development programs at various phases of maturity. Programs include, but are not limited to, F135 Engine Core Upgrade, Geared Turbo Fan Time on Wing Upgrades, and Gen6 Advanced Military Research and Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering / industrial management or other related Bachelors’ degree
  • 7+ years operations or engineering experience
  • 5+ years’ experience with advanced degree
  • Experience and knowledge of machining and coating manufacturing processes
  • Strong project management skills
  • US Citizenship required due to requirement to obtain and maintain secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous operations management experience
  • Agile project management and JIRA / Smartsheets experience
  • Six Sigma certifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance managing a team of manufacturing engineers.
  • Coach, train, and develop manufacturing engineers by developing and approving proficiency advancement of personnel.
  • Partner with design engineering counterparts on producibility and industrialization considerations for new designs.
  • Ensure the advancement of MRL and APQP activities.
  • Utilize the Agile framework for managing and prioritizing tasks of the team.
  • Create and manage schedules ensuring on time delivery of development and FAI hardware.
  • Integrate with Quality, Operations, and Suppliers to ensure schedule needs are planned and executed.
  • Communicate task status in a highly visible environment concisely and clearly.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive actions to closure.
  • Up to 10% domestic travel may be required.
  • Obtain and hold a Secret Level Security Clearance.
