Raytheon seeks a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer at our Tucson, AZ, location to support the Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile (HACM) 1.0 program. This position will provide technical leadership and supplier engagement to ensure design for manufacturability, production readiness, and overall program execution during the HACM 1.0 development phase. This position supports a high-visibility program delivering advanced hypersonic capability for national defense. You will have the opportunity to work on complex, cutting-edge technology within the HACM program in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The NPI Engineer will work closely with suppliers, program leadership, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify and mitigate technical risks, support producibility and manufacturing readiness activities, and drive resolution of manufacturing and design issues. This role requires direct interaction with the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE), Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and customer technical representatives.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. Relevant experience is considered manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, supplier engineering, quality engineering, or supplier management
  • Experience leading technical tasks, projects, or teams in a program or development environment.
  • Experience working with engineering drawings, specifications, and/or configuration management processes.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting manufacturing readiness activities, producibility assessments, or supplier capability evaluations.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems, manufacturing planning, and production documentation (e.g., MBOMs, purchase orders).
  • Experience conducting failure investigations and implementing design or process changes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience interfacing with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with hardware product documentation, including assembly drawings, parts lists, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with supplier qualification, risk mitigation, and process improvement in a development or early-production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct technical support and face-to-face engagement with critical suppliers to support manufacturability and manufacturing readiness.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during technical design reviews, program reviews, and producibility assessments.
  • Conduct supplier manufacturing assessments, including evaluation of build capability, test capacity, and manufacturing maturity.
  • Lead failure investigations and root cause analyses; coordinate and implement corrective actions and design changes as required.
  • Coordinate engineering and manufacturing activities within the HACM 1.0 program structure to ensure alignment with program scope, schedule, and technical requirements.
  • Manage supplier technical interfaces to identify risks, mitigate issues, and support continuous improvement.
  • Act as a technical liaison with the customer’s engineering organization, including the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) and IPTs.
  • Support program milestones related to supplier qualification, producibility, and manufacturing readiness.
