About The Position

Eaton's GEIS division is currently seeking a NPI Electrical Engineer. This is a hybrid role for our GEIS Headquarters in Syracuse, NY. Relocation is not provided for this position. The Syracuse, NY site core competencies are iron & aluminum foundries, machining, plating, and assembly. Manufacturing about 1 million units per month, the Syracuse team places high value on talented professionals who are focused on problem solving and efficiency. GEIS manufactures over 100,000 products for NEC and IEC applications, including: conduit fittings and cable glands, industrial control and electrical apparatus, enclosures, industrial luminaires (including LED), plugs and receptacles, drilling and marine products, commercial construction, solar solutions, industrial and commercial cabletray, mechanical hanging components, and bracing products. The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an electrical engineering role.
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
  • No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Syracuse, NY to be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of power electronics systems and principles like AC/DC, DC-DC, and DC/AC converters.
  • Proficient in the use of various measurement devices including oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and power analyzers.
  • Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance stack-up, Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA), etc.
  • Ability to read and understand Drawings, Specifications, and Requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual.
  • Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a highly team oriented, global, and diverse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to electronics design team and electronics suppliers on new development programs for Ord.loc and Haz.loc luminaires, from inception to certification, and transfer to production.
  • Drive skill development within the EE team and routinely mentor others in technical area of expertise.
  • Define electronics architecture based on required functionality, safety and compliance with certification regulations.
  • Technical responsibilities include circuit design, analysis, integration, debugging, establishing test methods and test equipment design.
  • Responsible for quality of design, in terms of cost, performance, DFM, assembly and test.
  • Write procurement specifications, conduct vendor design reviews and vendor liaison.
  • Assist purchasing and quality assurance departments in surveys, vendor selections, product evaluation, production support, and component obsolescence issues.
  • Review project deliverables to ensure accuracy and adherence to schedules and production commitments.
  • Interface with cross-functional development team, program management and customers to ensure overall technical compliance of the product.
  • Prepare and present technical information for TIM's, PDR's, CDR's etc.
  • Perform design & cost tradeoff studies.
  • Direct product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by responding to internal and external customer requests.
