About The Position
The successful candidate will operate and maintain prototype machinery, equipment, and tools (such as CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, etc.) for fabricating prototypes. They will collaborate with engineers and designers to understand prototype requirements and contribute to the iterative design process. The role involves setting up and calibrating equipment for prototype production, ensuring precision and accuracy, and performing routine maintenance on equipment while troubleshooting any issues that arise during production. The candidate will assemble, test, and modify prototypes based on design specifications and functional requirements, document and track all production steps, and ensure compliance with safety standards and quality controls. Additionally, they will assist in preparing prototypes for final review and evaluation, continuously improve processes, and provide feedback to engineering teams on design feasibility and performance during prototype testing. The position requires collaboration with team members across various Vertiv plants and may involve travel across the USA and Mexico to support other plant builds. The candidate will also participate in mechanical assembly of sheet metal and metal components, apply brazing techniques for copper piping, assist in electrical assembly, and identify opportunities to improve ergonomics for employees assembling units.
