This position requires candidates to act as surgical assistants in addition to their clinical practice. This driven and growth-oriented team comprises three surgeons and four advanced practice clinicians, collaborating to deliver patient-centric care. Work schedule is Mon-Fri with half-day off (36 patient contact hours) with call schedule (1:4 primary call rotation to support surgeons) Call includes coverage of surgery and clinic as well as patient referrals/needs from our ED and UC 15-25 patients per full day in clinic Special procedures performed include casting, injections, reductions in clinic/ED, and 1-2 days per week assisting surgeon in OR Inpatient and TCU rounding; 0-5 inpatients per day 16 bed MSP Unit; 8 bed ICU – average daily census for hospital is 17 Level III Trauma designation Anticipate 1-2 days weekly at the outreach clinic with 15-20 patients daily. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is assigned to Surgical Services to provide patient care under the supervision of the attending physician(s) by the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the Medical Staff Office with the following responsibilities, including but not limited to assisting in surgery. They are independently delivering clinical services to patients within the services line within the limits of their privileges. Complies with Essentia Health standards, policies, and procedures; contributes to customer satisfaction; participates in quality assurance improvement; supports and participates in a team approach to delivering patient care within the department, service line, and hospital. Fiscally responsible for the level of care prescribed/delivered and the appropriate utilization of resources. Demonstrates the successful judgment and ability to service appropriate unique needs of various patient populations and age groups. EDUCATION/TRAINING: Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing or Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
