The Emory Cardiothoracic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is a certificate-granting program designed to train newly graduated advanced practice providers and those transitioning from other subspecialties in cardiothoracic surgery through a comprehensive didactic curriculum and rigorous clinical education. The Fellowship is a 12-month program consisting of didactics, proctored procedures, supervised surgical cases, endoscopic vein harvesting training, and professional mentorship. The live and web-based didactic curriculum runs concurrently with clinical education at three of Emory Healthcare's metro Atlanta hospitals: Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory University Hospital, and Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. The program is designed to maximize exposure to routine and complex cardiothoracic surgery principles through direct patient care in the operating room, intensive care unit, cardiac telemetry units, and clinic settings.
