Our Power Generation market is expanding across the US. We are adding a Business Manager for our Northeastern US region, to support Engineering services and projects; one who will lead and grow project/design engineering teams, provide operational oversight, and work with our business development team to pursue new work opportunities with power generation clients in the Northeast region. This role will require a good understanding of our company's technical capabilities together with the client's needs as well as our competitors and talent pool in the region. The successful candidate will leverage knowledge of our company's technical capabilities, regional competitors, and the talent pool to establish and lead a highly skilled, committed team of engineers and designers. Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow the regional business by building client relationships throughout the Northeast United States region.
  • Drive business growth through expanding all of Kiewit's service offerings within the client organization.
  • Assist in recruiting outreach to expand our locally based engineering team in the NY/NJ area.
  • Develop, mentor, and retain local talent, ensuring clear career paths and professional development opportunities.
  • Engage in business development pursuits, identify and recommend key partnerships, strategy, and project initiatives, including development and review of proposals and estimates.
  • Manage local projects while monitoring performance using predefined metrics (progress, financial health, schedule adherence, risk, and opportunities).
  • Build teams to ensure quality execution (adherence to budget, schedule, and quality).
  • Coordinate bid and project staffing needs and availability through regular cross-functional meetings and routinely with business line peers.
  • Collaborate with other Kiewit districts to maximize exposure of the company's capabilities to the client.
  • Manage regional client financial performance, revenue delivered, achieved net gain, and billable utilization.
  • Actively participate in business planning and market strategy development.
  • Facilitate effective communication between design and construction project leadership.
  • Communicate project design and key performance indicators and their status with the client.
  • Ensure proper coordination of technical details across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Plan and communicate needs for Kiewit Engineering resources to support projects.
  • Responsible for meeting project engineering schedules and budgets.
  • Identify current and future risks along with mitigation strategies.
  • Consolidate best practices from project execution across the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in power generation with experience in design, as well as operations or project management experience, including client account management, identifying potential projects and cultivating key clients and partnerships in conjunction with a business development team.
  • Knowledge/experience of engineering practices and standards for the power industry and the region.
  • Awareness of trends in the Power Generation marketplace; for example, the role of Independent Power Producers and Renewable Energy technologies in advancing the energy landscape.
  • Professional Engineering license or PMP Certification desired.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English.
  • Ability to mentor technical staff and foster a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Travel typically 25% to 50% - as required within the North east region and to our district office in Lenexa Kansas.
