The Opportunity This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives. As a North America HEOR Manager, you will help shape the HEOR strategies to support North America reimbursement strategies. The position reports to the Director, Market Access (Canada) and HEOR (North America) Commercial Operations. This role will support the development and implementation of market access and reimbursement tactical plans for new and existing products through the lens of outcomes research, health economics and budget impact for North America by shaping the Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) strategy in partnership with our clinical and medical affairs team. The HEOR will support market access activities for the ADC portfolio to maximize and protect patient access globally across the product life cycle. This manager has the responsibility for scientific soundness of activities, and ensure outcomes aligned with business needs. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Economics and/or outcomes research with 10 years of work experience in HEOR, Evidence Generation and/or Reimbursement.
  • Masters Degree: Advanced degree (masters or PhD or MD) in epidemiology or health economics or outcomes research
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially presentation development; especially in regards to working across cultures.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to advance projects with limited supervision.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with various internal business partners (especially Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Legal, and Government Affairs staff) to provide insight into key market access issues.
  • Minimum of 5 years: Functional experience in reimbursement and HEOR is required.
  • Knowledge of health economics and outcomes research, reimbursement, coverage, coding and payment mechanisms globally is highly desirable.
  • Creative ability to develop innovative programs and to develop novel methodologies for economic analyses applied to the medical Technology industry.
  • Direct analysis of health care clinical, health economic and outcomes data to support clinical, administrative and/or market development, health policy and publication strategy initiatives.
  • Knowledgeable about product development process (R&D) as well as commercialization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical technology or pharmaceutical space.
  • Experience in diabetes area desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure alignment of key internal stakeholders (commercial, RWE, medical and clinical teams) on business priorities and HEOR projects.
  • Develop HEOR/outcomes-based models to support solution specific business cases that can be leveraged by key health system stakeholders and for internal market access stakeholders
  • Develop and present materials to demonstrate product value including outcomes research, economic models and slide presentations.
  • Plan and support economic model adaptations, especially with key clinical study results and statistical analyses.
  • Ensure publication of relevant, high-quality data in impactful HEOR publications (including presentation of findings at scientific congresses, key internal cross functional workshop/forum, and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals).
  • Conduct health services research to quantify the clinical and economic impact of Abbott products.
  • This position is responsible for the execution of HEOR strategy for FreeStyle Libre portfolio of products and new ADC product development.
  • Cultivate effective working relationships with key opinion leaders to support publication plans.
  • Investigate opportunities for differential reimbursement for differentiated products through clinical evidence and for emerging technologies
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Health Technology Assessment; track and evaluate reimbursement decisions and take action to mitigate impact for ADC’s business
  • Manages cost center budget
