The Nortel SL-100 Telephone Switch Technician provides telecommunication maintenance, installation, provisioning of analog/digital phones, and repair services to the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). This position involves working alone or with a team, reporting to the Program Manager, and providing various switch-related reports, traffic studies, and telephone switch metric data upon request. The technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing digital and analog telecommunication systems, including telephone switches, transport systems, voicemail systems, and cable/fiber optic distribution systems. The role also includes installing telecommunications equipment, managing workload control, performing preventative maintenance inspections, and providing on-call support as required. The technician will troubleshoot complex problems, provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians, and develop recommendations for equipment modifications or replacements. The position requires physical stamina, including standing for long periods, climbing ladders, and lifting items weighing up to 40 lbs.
