Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in environmental engineering, environmental compliance, or sustainability roles.
  • Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments is a plus.
  • Certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Certified Environmental Engineer (CEE) are advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Works to ensure that Norplas is compliant with Federal and State EPA regulations (air, land and water)
  • Provides chemical information expertise for the facility while also managing SDS and GHS systems
  • File EPA permit applications, manages interactions with the EPA.
  • Maintains operating records in accordance with Norplas’ EPA permits; Stays current with EPA regulations
  • Maintains calculations and records for monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and yearly emissions of paint line and assembly process
  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections on an on-going basis
  • Test, characterize, handle hazardous wastes, and be responsible for managing waste
  • Reviews and manage Management of Change process
  • Provide and conduct need environmental training the team leaders and team members
  • Maintain the ISO 14000 certification
  • Travel to other sites (80-mile radius) for environmental training or assisting other sites (0-10% of the time)
  • Other tasks as needed, related to environmental, health, and safety
  • Work on safety projects as needed
