Job Description: Job Family Definition: Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Management Level Definition: Contributions impact technical components of HPE products, solutions, or services regularly and sustainable. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise and partnership to functional and technical project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for achieving objectives. May provide team leadership and mentoring to others.

  • Architect and implement frontend components for C/C++ compilers including lexical analysis, parsing, semantic analysis, and AST/IR generation.
  • Ensure compliance with C/C++ language standards (ISO C/C++), including support for evolving features (e.g., C++20, C++23).
  • Develop and maintain type systems, name resolution, template instantiation, and overload resolution mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with backend and optimization teams to ensure seamless IR integration and transformation.
  • Implement advanced diagnostics, error recovery, and static analysis features.
  • Optimize frontend performance and memory usage for large-scale codebases.
  • Lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to long-term compiler strategy.
  • Maintain high code quality, documentation, and test coverage across compiler components.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 7 + years of experience in compiler development with a strong focus on C/C++ frontend technologies.
  • Deep understanding of compiler theory, formal grammars, and language design.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with compiler frameworks such as EDG frontend, Clang/LLVM or GCC.
  • Strong knowledge of abstract syntax trees (ASTs), semantic analysis, and IR generation.
  • Experience with template metaprogramming, name mangling, and language-specific optimizations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead complex technical initiatives.
  • Experience in contributing to open-source compiler projects (e.g., EDG frontend, Clang, GCC).
  • Familiarity with multi-language support and cross-compilation.
  • Knowledge of static analysis tools, sanitizers, and language server protocols (LSP).
  • Exposure to IDE integration and debugging infrastructure.
  • Experience with formal verification or compiler fuzzing.
