About the position

The Corporate Instructor/Trainer will lead and teach a customized Advanced Aircraft Engine Mechanic's Course for a private company who is a client of the Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE) at Cape Cod Community College. This position requires providing classroom and laboratory instruction onsite at the client location north of Boston. The Instructor will lead 3-hour onsite sessions twice per week (2 sessions per week) for a total of 96 instructional hours. Scheduling may be flexible based on instructor availability; however, the client must also work within their staff schedules. A co-teaching model is welcome, and one or more instructors may be sought for this position. If two instructors are available, the client is open to coordinating a schedule that works for all parties. The anticipated course start date is mid to late March 2025, with the program running approximately 12 to 16 weeks. The course start date can be negotiated depending on Instructor's availability.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on instruction for a customized Advanced Aircraft Engine Mechanic Course, tailored to meet the specific needs of a CCAPE employer client.
  • Develop, prepare, and update course materials, including presentations, student handouts, and instructional resources, to ensure relevance, accuracy, and alignment with client objectives.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with program standards and client expectations, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all participants.

Requirements

  • Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certification.
  • Three years of relevant work experience in an aviation maintenance capacity, with a focus on advanced aircraft engine systems and diagnostics.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills in the classroom, including the integration of computer-based aviation software program(s) and hands-on technical demonstrations.
  • Proven commitment to professional development and evidence of staying current in the fields of aviation technology, industry standards, and instructional best practices.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs and interests of adult learners in a fast-paced, workplace-based instructional environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to engaging students, employer clients, and internal college teams.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours to accommodate employer client schedules and course requirements, while managing multiple and competing priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of instructional theory and pedagogical best practices, with a focus on hands-on, applied learning in technical education.
  • Understanding of the mission of postsecondary technical education, including its role in workforce development and industry partnership.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities in both instructional and technical settings.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving complex mechanical and technical issues related to advanced aircraft engines.
  • Commitment to student success and ability to create an engaging, inclusive, and safety-focused learning environment.
  • Valid government-issued identification (i.e. Driver's License) to travel to client site.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree or higher in aviation or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Skilled user of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, with the ability to create instructional materials and track student performance effectively.
  • Proficiency in utilizing multimedia equipment and audiovisual tools to enhance classroom and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for complex aircraft engine systems.
  • Demonstrated classroom management skills, including the ability to maintain control, foster a positive learning environment, and diffuse challenging situations effectively.
  • Strong verbal, written, and teaching skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse adult learners.
  • Experience with integrating aviation technology and alternative instructional delivery methods, such as hybrid, online, and simulation-based learning systems.
  • Experience delivering customized training solutions in partnership with industry clients, tailored to meet specific workforce development needs.
  • Prior experience teaching in a corporate or employer-based training environment, with a focus on workplace safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, including participation in industry conferences, certifications, and technical training programs.
  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging, hands-on instructional materials aligned with industry best practices and emerging trends in aviation technology.

Benefits

  • $75/hour for instruction dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience and field experience.
  • An additional (one-time) $1,600 stipend is available for curriculum preparation, updates, and required staff and client meetings.
  • Part-time, up to 18 hours per week, non-benefited, non-unit position.
