About The Position

The College of Engineering (Mechanical) seeks to establish a pool of qualified applicants for potential employment in future Adjunct Instructor positions, at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU). This is a non-tenure track, part-time (less than 50% effort) position, and responsibilities are limited to teaching the courses listed in this posting. Compensation is on a per-course basis and based on factors such as academic discipline, faculty credentialing, experience, etc. Minimum pay is commensurate depending on education and experience. Selected applicants for the current academic year may teach up to 7 undergraduate/graduate level Semester Credit Hours (SCH) in an assigned semester (less than 50% FTE), within the required discipline, as dictated by student demand during the available semester(s). Consideration will be given to applications as curricular and student needs arise in the department. Adjunct positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester, and on an as-needed basis.

Requirements

• Doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate SCH in the teaching discipline) for undergraduate level
• Earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline for graduate level

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level
• Knowledge of online learning management systems

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 7 undergraduate/graduate SCH per semester (less than 50% FTE)
• Maintain and manage student records
• Post grades (assignments, mid-term & final) in a timely manner
• Submit attendance reporting
• Mentor and assist students
• Post and maintain office hours for a minimum of three (3) hours per week
• Attend student class orientation as needed (if required by the hiring department)
• Attend clinical/simulation/studio meetings as needed (if required by hiring department)
• Other duties as assigned by the department head
