About The Position

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a Medical Assistant or an Athletic Trainer to serve as a Non-Surgical Clinical Assistant. This full-time position is based in the Chalfont, PA office and requires travel to Doylestown and Willow Grove offices. The role involves supporting a Sports Medicine Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties, aiming to enhance patient satisfaction and ensure compliance with clinical procedures and scheduling.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED minimum education requirement
  • Must be a CCMA, CRMA, EMT, or ATC Professional license/certification must be active and valid
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology
  • Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of fax logs

Responsibilities

  • Increase patient satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with schedule prep
  • Manage voicemail
  • Ensure accurate end of day batching
  • Ensure compliance with time stamping
  • Ensure compliance with clinical policies and procedures
  • Manage patient wait times
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy with pre certs and authorizations
  • Greet patients in the waiting room and escort them to the exam room
  • Direct patients to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout
  • Maintain order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepare exam room for patients to enter
  • Clean and autoclave instruments
  • Provide and scan proper paperwork to the chart for Physician's review
  • Record vitals as per Physician's request
  • Prepare injections for the Physician
  • Pull up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam
  • Assist patient with clothing when necessary
  • Dispose of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replace sharps containers when existing containers are full
  • Answer telephones in patient areas and provide voicemail coverage for Physician
  • Request reports for various facilities for Physicians
  • Empty and restock laundry
  • Scan appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and direct Physician in patient appointment order
  • Review Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart
  • Complete pre-certifications for MRI's and other Physician orders as necessary
  • Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative
  • Scan information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service)
  • Cover other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician
  • Cover Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested
  • Attend required meetings and participate on committees as requested
  • Develop and quarterly update physician protocols for: office hours, medication draws, patient education, voice mail/jelly beans and clinical protocols, ensuring it is housed on the RO Intranet
  • Read and respond to email communications within appropriate time frame
  • Identify weekly schedule, including schedule changes, published by manager
  • Handle specimens (including urine, blood and drainage from incisions, aspirated fluids, etc.) and label accordingly
  • Follow order instructions of provider to ensure specimen is sent to appropriate lab for analyzation
