The CardioVascular Center (CVC) at Tufts is seeking a Noninvasive Cardiologist with experience/expertise in Cardio-Oncology and Advanced heart failure to join our faculty. With the anticipated growth of our Cancer Center, Tufts is seeking a dedicated Cardio-Oncologist to establish and lead our cardio-oncology program. The Cardio-Oncologist will play a critical role in providing consultations for cardiac protection during chemotherapy regimens and developing a survivorship program focused on long-term cardiovascular risk management for cancer survivors.

Requirements

  • BC/BE in Cardiovascular Diseases.
  • Cardio-Oncology experience and/or training.
  • A Level III training in echocardiography as well as current or anticipated Board Certification in Echocardiography.
  • Substantial experience with transthoracic and transesophageal echo (including imaging for guidance of interventional procedures, a rapidly growing area), stress echo, and techniques such as strain and 3D echocardiography.
  • Experience with echocardiographic imaging and guidance of structural interventions is useful but not required.
  • Additional experience and training in coronary CT angiography and/or cardiac MRI would be useful but not required.
  • Interest in seeing general clinical cardiology and/or valve patients, doing in-patient attending clinical service.
  • Interest and experience in academics highly desirable, with substantial opportunities for teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate approximately 20% of time in year one to cardio-oncology and survivorship initiatives, with potential growth to 30% or more in year two and beyond.
  • Collaborate with the Cancer Center leadership to enhance cancer care offerings within the system, including potential clinic sessions at designated locations.
  • Provide expert care in advanced heart failure, dedicating the remainder of time to managing a growing patient population and increasing referrals.
  • Support the management of over 75 heart transplants projected for fiscal year 2025, ensuring high-quality care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Engage in network development and outreach clinics to strengthen relationships with various healthcare partners.
