About The Position

The Non-Ferrous Material Handler is responsible for operating balers and other industrial machinery, processing scrap metal by hand. This role requires safe and efficient operation of equipment, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and performing other related warehousing activities.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms
  • Computer literacy (basic data entry and inventory tracking).
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately identify and sort various metals and verify inventory of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensure all inbound materials are accurately graded and priced and communicate discrepancy with management.
  • Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from industrial equipment, flatbeds, van trailers, or other transport vehicles.
  • Adhere to all Schupan safety procedures, regulations, and policies while transporting and delivering various materials, ensuring full compliance with established safety protocols.
  • Perform data entry, tag materials, and organize inventory to maintain accurate records.
  • Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to management immediately.
  • Secure and chock trailers according to company policy prior to loading or unloading.
  • Lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections; promptly report any needed repairs to manager an/or Maintenance.
  • Deliver professional and courteous service to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, employees, and drivers.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
