The NDE Engineering Internship position is located within the ATS NDE (Non-destructive Examination) group. The NDE team operates advanced laboratories and field operations focused on inspection technology development, asset condition assessment, and integrity management. The group supports a wide range of Company initiatives including pipeline safety, electric asset reliability, emerging inspection technologies, robotics, and advanced NDE methods. The NDE Engineering Intern will support ongoing work in inspection technology evaluation, data analysis, and field validation of NDE tools and methods. Work may range from general technical consultation to comprehensive support from planning through execution of laboratory and field investigations. The successful candidate is expected to support senior engineering staff on key initiatives including but not limited to: Evaluating and validating NDE technologies for gas, hydro and electric infrastructure (e.g., ultrasonic (phased array, and drones), radiography, eddy current, EMAT). Supporting laboratory testing of materials, welds, and components to characterize degradation mechanisms such as corrosion, cracking, and mechanical damage. Assisting with development and deployment of custom inspection tools and robotic platforms. Performing data analysis and reporting to support asset integrity assessments. Supporting field inspections, pilot demonstrations, and technology implementation projects. This position is onsite, working from your assigned work location 5 days a week. The work location is San Ramon, CA.
