About The Position

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) seeks a Non-Depository Financial Examiner who has a passion for public service and protecting the public interest in Virginia by maintaining a safe, sound, and competitive financial services environment. Joining the Bureau of Financial Institutions, the Non-Depository Financial Examiner conducts examinations of licensed consumer finance companies, debt management agencies, debt settlement services providers, short-term lenders, and motor vehicle title lenders. Examinations are conducted either independently or as part of a team. This position is based in Richmond, Virginia and requires up to 20% travel. Responsibilities

Conduct and assist in the examinations of licensed consumer finance companies, debt management agencies, debt settlement services providers, short-term lenders, and motor vehicle title lenders
Review transactions (loans and agreements), operations, financial statements, policies and procedures, and information technology for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
Perform examinations of branch locations and compile information for review
Detail and document all violations, overcharges, irregularities, concerns, and recommendations
Prepare and contribute to comprehensive written examination reports
Discuss findings with licensee staff, examiner-in-charge, and/or other Bureau staff
Travel in and out of state to conduct on-site examinations of licensees
Perform related work as required
