About The Position

Penn College is seeking dedicated, student-focused nursing professionals to join our team as Non-Credit Practical Nursing Instructors. In this part-time role, you will provide high-quality instruction and/or clinical supervision to students enrolled in our clock-hour Practical Nursing Program. Your expertise will help prepare the next generation of compassionate, skilled practical nurses.

Requirements

  • Current Pennsylvania RN license. Required
  • One (1) year of clinical nursing experience within two years of employment. Required
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form in English. Required
  • Developed organizational skills. Required
  • Must be certified in CPR at the Basic Life Support level or higher, and maintain certification. Required
  • Ability to provide instruction in subject area for which hired. Required
  • Functional ability with microcomputer functions. Required
  • Knowledge of learning theory and classroom management techniques. Required
  • Ability to work independently. Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Relevant teaching experience on the secondary or post secondary level. Preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide non-credit classroom and/or clinical instruction in the clock-hour practical nursing program.
  • Identify student performance problems as they surface and consult with staff for resolution of the problem.
  • Assist the student to benefit from adequate clinical experience by offering effective supervision and instruction in the clinical area.
  • Assist other non-credit instructors and school administrators with laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance.
  • Provide feedback to students and complete program evaluations.
  • Maintain daily attendance records.
  • Secure materials needed for instruction.
  • Develop lesson plans; prepare assignments, supplemental teaching materials, sample tests, etc.
  • Must comply with policies and procedures of clinical sites where instructing students.
  • Attend a minimum of one nursing program meeting per level.
  • Attend clinical facility orientations and updates as required by those facilities.
