About The Position

The University is undergoing rapid growth toward its strategic goal of becoming a comprehensive, midsize, residential, undergraduate-graduate, research-intensive, health professions and science University of excellence. We are experiencing unprecedented support and investment, including a recent $50 million allocation from the state of California and a $ 7.7 million award from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Our ongoing expansion includes a new 100,000 sq. ft. building in the works for our 4-year medical degree program and the development of a new adjoining 13-acre campus expansion for residence halls and other facilities. CDU’s Los Angeles location offers access to big-city amenities, entertainment, and cultural events. CDU is also closely connected to our community through partnerships with local and regional entities such as government organizations, non-profits, healthcare companies, and area hospitals, including the state-of-art medical campus across the street. Our ongoing expansion includes development of a new PhD Program in Translational Biomedical Sciences, and the College of Science and Health is accepting applications for non-compensated faculty positions in this new program. Now accepting applications for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and full Professor positions.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree preferred; Master’s Degree with applicable experience may be considered depending on specific area of expertise.
  • Academic credentials and expertise appropriate for appointment to the College of Science and Health faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of related experience required or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the academic area, including current research and trends.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
  • Communicates effectively with Program Director, Department Chair, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Applies knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skills applicable to the discipline.
  • Must be available to teach the workload as assigned.
  • PC literate with the ability to utilize the MS Office platform, including Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn new software as required.

Responsibilities

  • Advance the education, research, and clinical missions of the university, the college and the program in collaboration with the Department Chair/Program Director, staff, and administrative leadership.
  • Facilitate and support the training of students.
  • Champion improvements in education of students or fellows.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, teaching and research activities in various and specific disciplines within the PhD Program.
  • Contribute defined hours for teaching load and student engagement within the program.
  • Communicate effectively with Department Chair/Program Director, faculty, and staff.
  • Conduct didactic, laboratory or clinical instruction in assigned courses.
  • Advise students and evaluate student progress.
  • Create a dynamic, learner-centered environment that supports the diverse learning needs of the student population based on educational theory and evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Assume other duties that contribute to the program’s success.
  • Maintain office hours for students.
  • Demonstrate and promote interest in continuous professional development as demonstrated in research publications and/or attending and providing training sessions.
