About The Position

The Non-Commissioned Investigator position within the Missouri Department of Corrections focuses on transforming lives by equipping individuals in the criminal justice system with necessary skills. This role involves analyzing intelligence within correctional facilities to ensure safety and security, contributing to the rehabilitation of offenders and their reintegration into society.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of correctional experience and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
  • OR four or more years of experience in financial or resources investigations, civil, administrative, or criminal investigative experience, or as a law enforcement officer, and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
  • Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of three years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Locate, analyze and disseminate intelligence residing in Missouri's prison.
  • Develop and maintain a proficient working knowledge of intelligence sources such as the offender phone and email system, recording and monitoring equipment, and the MoDOC offender management system.
  • Monitor offender wire communications and work to identify criminal activity.
  • Provide analyzed intelligence to Institutional Investigators, local and state law enforcement agencies, facility administrators, and the Department Special Investigations Taskforce Unit.
  • Compile extensive reports regarding intercepted communications and utilize the information to organize interdictions of drugs and contraband.
  • Develop actionable intelligence related to the safety and security of the facility and general public by exhausting all reasonable leads.
  • Assist in ongoing investigations of suspected violations of administrative, state, and federal law, including interviewing staff, victims, and witnesses to obtain evidence and writing case summaries.
  • Testify in criminal, civil, or administrative proceedings.
