Ophthalmic Assistants provide vision care under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist and assist with taking patient histories, performing diagnostic tests and procedures, patient scheduling, and exam room preparation. This is a full-time position. Caregivers in this role will work 8:00am to 5:00pm. Schedules may vary based on facility needs. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties and perform basic patient care as directed by a physician or supervisor. Receive and prepare patients for examination and treatment under the direction of a supervisor or physician. Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties for high acuity patient populations including patients admitted to the hospital and/or those with critical patient care needs. Perform routine screening tests and document patient information in the patient medical record. Stock and maintain exam rooms with equipment and supplies.
