About The Position

Immediate opening for a Full Time Forklift Operator / Back Up Yard Driver to join us at Ryder in Port Deposit, MD. Warehouse Pays Weekly. Driver Positions Pay Weekly. Hourly Pay: $21.50 Per Hour. Shift Pay: $1.00 Per Hour. Hours Per Week: 40 + hours per week. Schedule: Varies. Start Time: PM. Deliver SOLO To: Yard Jockey and Offsite Fueling. Route: Local Home Daily. Tractor Type: Yard Tractor - Yard experience a must. Trailer Type: Dry Van 48', 53’. Equipment: Cherry Pickers, Order Pickers, Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, etc. Will assist in Warehouse when needed. Trucks are 36 months or newer, include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance and Company Drivers fuel up the trucks at over 800 Maintenance Facilities Nationwide.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Must have verifiable driving experience in 'like' equipment: 9 Months experience in the past 3 years, OR 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Yard Driver Examination
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Responsibilities

• Primarily responsible for safely handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard, but cannot drive on public roads
• Compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service
• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Maintaining accurate move and yard inventory records
• Other tasks as assigned
