About the position

The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting patient care by preparing exam rooms, managing patient flow, and collecting essential clinical data. This position ensures that all necessary medical information and supplies are ready for patient visits, while also assisting with front office duties to enhance the overall patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares exam rooms for use by disinfecting, stocking, and checking vaccinations and medications availability.
  • Preps patient charts with pre-visit planning by reviewing the next day's schedule and identifying gaps in care.
  • Ensures and/or obtains necessary medical records such as mammograms, colonoscopies, immunizations, and clinical studies for office visits.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms and directs patient flow for maximum efficiency.
  • Collects and documents patient information, including vital signs, allergies, and current symptoms.
  • Obtains additional data from patients and reports findings to the provider, recognizing abnormal findings.
  • Confirms and clarifies written orders prior to implementing delegated tasks.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes laboratory specimens for testing.
  • Tracks and enters lab results in the medical record and performs quality control for waived testing.
  • Assists with front office duties such as greeting patients, answering phones, and verifying insurances.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or 3+ years of documented medical assistant experience.
  • Completion of the CH Medical Assistant Assessment.
  • BCLS training and current certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Proficiency with care tasks such as phlebotomy and aseptic technique.
