About The Position

RS&H is seeking a Noise Specialist to work collaboratively with our Transportation Infrastructure team! We provide noise and vibration analyses for a wide range of transportation projects across the eastern U.S. throughout the planning, engineering, and construction phases. In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage projects/lead noise studies, supervise and oversee work conducted by others on our noise and air quality team, conduct noise and vibration studies for a wide range of projects, prepare technical reports, represent RS&H at meetings with key clients, and support public outreach efforts to communicate study findings. The responsibilities for this role will include: data collection, noise monitoring, modeling, mitigation analysis, report writing, task administration and the ability to effectively coordinate with clients and the public as necessary for transportation improvement projects as part of larger NEPA environmental studies or as stand-alone projects (as project manager). We are looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, self-starting team player who is organized and able to work effectively on multiple projects. The successful candidate will be capable of working effectively in both the office and field, collaborate as part of internal multidisciplinary design teams, and engage directly with clients to maintain and build long-standing relationships.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of state and federal (FHWA) noise policies and procedures
  • Experience preparing highway noise traffic analyses, including for state DOT projects, in the eastern U.S.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong technical capabilities in noise analysis
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • B.S. or M.S. in acoustics, engineering, transportation, environmental science, GIS or related field
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in the Federal Highway Administration’s Traffic Noise Model (TNM)
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS (ArcMap, ArcPro), MicroStation and/or AutoCAD

Nice To Haves

  • Team leadership experience preferred
  • Prequalification to perform noise analyses for state DOT(s)
  • AICP certification and/or PE license
  • Experience with other aspects of NEPA studies and analyses
  • Experience with quantitative air quality modeling (MOVES)
