About The Position

The Nocturnist Physician Assistant at Newton-Wellesley Hospital will support the Inpatient Orthopedics team by providing high-quality medical care during night shifts. This role involves covering the Emergency Department and inpatient floor, conducting surgical consults, and providing Operating Room coverage. The position requires working autonomously and collaborating with attending surgeons to ensure optimal patient care.

Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited US PA-C program.
• Physician Assistant license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• 2+ years of experience as an Orthopedic Physician Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cover the Emergency Department and inpatient floor during night shifts.
• Conduct inpatient surgical consults and provide Operating Room coverage.
• Present evaluations to Attending Surgeons to determine treatment plans.
• Order diagnostic tests and interpret results.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as wound care, suturing, and medication administration.
• Conduct daily patient rounds and attend weekly grand surgical rounds.
• Participate in the discharge planning process.
• Educate and counsel patients and families.
• Orient medical students, physician assistants, and surgical residents to hospital practices.
• Participate in quality improvement and assurance processes.
