About The Position

Requirements

  • Possession of a relevant degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a NOC Technician or in a similar role.
  • Proficient knowledge of network operations and network monitoring tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with NOC procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient understanding of network topology and of network troubleshooting tools.
  • Willingness to work in shifts as NOC operates 24/7.
  • Relevant certifications in networking would be an added advantage.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems, business applications, and network systems.
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage network connectivity from the demarcation point to the client's equipment, ensuring seamless communication.
  • Carry out installation and troubleshooting of network cables using industry standards for copper and MM/SM fiber.
  • Utilize cable analyzers like Fluke for diagnosing and resolving network problems.
  • Undertake triage and decommissioning of servers and other network equipment.
  • Handle configuration of ILO settings on new production servers, switch ports, and VLANs.
  • Oversee storage management of decommissioned blade servers, ensuring proper labeling and recording of information.
  • Dispose of outdated equipment in compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Respond to and resolve installation requests via the ticketing system.
  • Supervise a team performing device installations and cable runs.
  • Implement new patch panel infrastructure needs and placement.
  • Populate virtual database with devices and connections data.
