About The Position

The NOC Technician is responsible for monitoring critical network elements and fiber infrastructure in a 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC) environment. This role involves engaging in proactive and reactive monitoring of a multi-service fiber optic network, troubleshooting issues, coordinating with various teams, and ensuring the reliability of services such as video, telephone, and internet. The technician will work overnight shifts and is expected to maintain high standards of communication and documentation while adhering to company policies and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or vocational certification in technology field or equivalent industry work experience required.
  • One year of related technological experience required.
  • General knowledge of networking, including network components and operation.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP and other Internet protocols, and experience with tools such as Ping, SNMP, SSH, Trace Route, NS Lookup.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of network monitoring systems and incident ticketing systems.
  • Exposure to SolarWinds, Wireshark, Zabbix, Grafana, and change management preferred.
  • Basic understanding of RF signal processing and AC & DC power preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor critical network elements and fiber infrastructure using various network monitoring systems.
  • Engage in reactive and proactive monitoring of the multi-service fiber optic network.
  • Evaluate network alarm conditions and service outages, validating and classifying impact.
  • Document events as they occur and enter relevant information in the ticketing system.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate mitigation and resolution of service outages with third parties and vendors.
  • Communicate with users and management regarding service outages and equipment malfunctions.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities with Field Ops personnel.
  • Generate operational reports and review process documentation.
  • Train and guide new hires as required.
